Biography

Mike is 62 and married with two grown up sons and an 8 year old granddaughter. Mike lives in Cuddington with his wife Sheila. Mike was born in Wisbech Cambridgeshire, but has lived nearly all of his of his life here in the Mid Cheshire area in Rudheath, Lostock and Frodsham

His father Ron worked at ICI Lostock and he went to school at Rudheath County Primary School and Sir John Deane’s Grammar School. Mike was formerly employed as an Accountant at the Winsford Urban District Council & the King’s Lynn Treasury in Norfolk

He has been self employed in the locality for 39 years; for the last 25 years in the leisure industry. Together with his wife Sheila he currently runs the Heathercliffe Country House Hotel at Frodsham in Cheshire. He has been involved in Tourism and Regeneration for many years and has led trade missions to Europe and worked on joint initiatives in China, France, Belgium and Holland.

He stood as an independent in the 2001 parliamentary election, but his defeat didn't put him off, he redoubled his efforts to improve things in the area. He has previously been the Chairman of Visit Chester and Cheshire, and Chairman of Weaver Valley Management Board. He is currently a Council Member for the Mersey Basin Campaign, Trustee of a local charity and a governor at a local sixth form college.

Main Issues

Mike wants to see an increase in sheltered housing for the eldery, retaining transport grants for young people with learning disabilities and the creation of a second Mersey crossing. If elected Mike pledges to create and fund constituency forums and implement an action plan to bring more jobs to Weaver Vale.
