Biography

Suzanne Moore is an award winning writer and columnist for The Guardian, The Independent and The Mail on Sunday. She is standing as an Independent because she wants to see the political system change.

After more than 25 years of watching and writing about politics, Suzanne feels it is now the time to take a stand against party politics.

Main Issues

Housing

I want affordable housing for our key public sector workers, more shared ownership schemes and to take over the hundreds of empty council properties. Why do we have huge waiting lists and overcrowding when good homes are left to rot creating ghost estates?

Jobs

We need to boost up our creative industries as that brings jobs and we have  massive  unemployment especially amongst the young.

Family

My family has been affected by the wave of  gun and knife crime and we all know we can identify at an early stage kids  who are likely to get into gangs. We need really early intervention in primary schools to help kids find a different  path .

Finance

We need micro-financing schemes and seed money for our entrepreneurs and small businesses.  Affordable loans not grants.

Local Issues

- Bring back the Stoke Newington Festival through a mix of public and private sponsorship. We campaigned to re-open the Hackney Empire. Now it needs saving again.

- Who is the regeneration of Dalston and the Olympics benefiting apart from property developers? We need more pressure on them to provide local jobs instead of just shops.

- Boost our primary schools. We have the new secondaries. Lets make sure kids can read and write by the time they get there.
