Leigh has lived in the area all his life and was educated at King Edward VII in Melton.
His career originally started in the insurance industry, before specialising within Telecoms in 2001.
He has worked within the UK and abroad. In 2007 Leigh started his own consultancy company with customers from both the public and private sector.
Over the last several years Leigh has been advising large FTSE100 companies on making efficiency savings, increasing value for money and working hard to improve customer experience.
He has a deep understanding of consumer and employment law.
Leigh also spends a lot of time to charities and community activities. One of his highlights was to manage and set up three large call centres to take donations for Comic Relief culminating in donations of over £250,000.
Leigh is an active member of the Twyford and District Royal British Legion as their Standard Bearer. Through this position he was given the honour of representing Leicestershire at the National Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in 2010.
He was Chairman of the Twyford Golden Jubilee Celebrations in 2002 hosting several hundred people making it one of the largest events in the region.
His interests include football, rugby and listening to live music. Passionate about village communities, education and rural life, Leigh wants to work hard to ensure businesses and people have access and knowledge to the resources available to them, whilst ensuring the Council provide value for money.
With the expenses scandal and disillusioned with the main Political Parties Leigh stood in the 2010 General Election against Conservative Alan Duncan, securing the highest ever Independent vote in Rutland and Melton within only 16 days. Passionate about Open Politics and representing the constituents he is formally endorsed by former Independent MP's Martin Bell OBE, Dr Richard Taylor and also the Independent Network (www.independentnetwork.org.uk)
Leigh is Standing as Independent in the Somerby Ward for the Melton Borough Council. His main issues are:
Planning: Ensuring transparency by being open and honest with planning issues in the area after period of controversial issues in the area.
Rural Broadband: Will work with companies such as BT to upgrade the local exchanges to ensure faster Broadband services and provision of TV through the telephone line in order to open up the Sky Monopoly.
Ensuring Value for Money: Holding the Council to account over spending and promote ways to improve customer service.
Representing the Constituents at each tier of Government: Over issues that affect rural life and promoting community groups.
