John works as a bus driver in Peterborough. Originally from Norwich, he first came to Peterborough in 1988 and has now lived in Peterborough for eight years.
John has previously worked in management in retail and bus and coach companies. For several years John ran his own bus and coach business, so he knows exactly what it’s like to invest so much of yourself into launching and growing a business.
John was a member of the Labour Party in Norwich from 1975 for ten years but left disillusioned. John rejoined Labour in 2005 after the last election but left within months as he realised the New Labour Government, even with its reduced majority, would never be in touch with people.
John has devised a comprehensive manifesto, the, “Independent Agenda for Peterborough” which he wants to take to Westminster and work on for everyone who lives and works in the city.
John is passionate about raising standards in public life and has pledged accountability, openness, integrity. He pledges to donate some of his salary to charities with Peterborough connections. John believes that by leading by example more people will want to offer their time and talents to the community and public life.
John is married to Emma, a primary school teacher in the city.
